Let’s Talk About Infragen Halogen Heaters
Ever feel like you’re wasting time waiting for a big oven to warm up the air before your product even feels the heat? That’s exactly why we built Infragen heaters. They use shortwave infrared, which basically means they skip the middleman. Instead of heating the air, they shoot thermal energy straight into the surface of your material. It’s instant. The Nitty-Gritty on Power We offer a bunch of different wattages and voltages because we know every factory setup is a bit different. If you go with a high-voltage setup—like 400V—you can cram a lot more power into a shorter tube. The result? Your ramp-up time disappears. But a word of caution: that kind of intensity is a lot for your reflectors to handle. If your cooling system isn’t up to the task, you’re going to fry your components way sooner than you’d like. Make sure your airflow is dialed in. What’s Inside the Tube? Inside that high-purity quartz tube, there’s a tungsten filament and some halogen gas. The gas is the secret sauce here—it stops the filament from evaporating, which means the lamp doesn’t just burn out after a few uses. It keeps a steady, reliable heat for thousands of hours. When it comes to plugging them in, we stick with R7s or SK15 connectors. They’re the industry standard for a reason. They fit tight, they stay put, and when a lamp finally hits its end-of-life, you can just pop a new one in and get back to work. Some of our models even have a special coating. It shifts the heat spectrum so the energy hits exactly where you need it, and nowhere else. Putting Them to Work If you’re doing PET blowing or curing plastics, these are your best friend. The shortwave heat sinks into the polymer so fast that you hit that critical glass transition temperature in seconds. It cuts your cycle times down significantly. Plus, since the lamps have such a small footprint, you can pack a ton of power into a tiny oven. You can wire them in banks to create specific “zones” of heat, giving you way more control. One last tip:**keep the quartz clean.**Seriously. A single fingerprint or a smudge of oil on the glass creates a hot spot, and that’s the fastest way to crack a tube. Keep a clean cloth handy, and you’ll be golden.
